Advice for curly hair?

i have naturally curly (ringlets) hair. Up untill recently i have obsessively straightened it. But a few people have commented on a photo wehere i left my hair curly, they said it suited me.

So i have considered leaving it normal!

Can anyone recomend shampoos/conditioners/ serums, even techiniques they use to help maintain bouncy curls! xx

Advice for curly hair?

Yess! Keep your hair natural! Mine's curly too, and I started realizing how much damage is done when you straighten it and brush it out. Also, so many girls wear their hair straight.... it really sets you apart from everyone and makes you unique to have it curly.

I use Pantene Pro-V Hydrating Curls shampoo and conditioner. There's also a really good brand for curly hair called Redken, but it's fairly expensive. Try it out if you have the cash to burn, though.

After I wash my hair and towel dry it a bit, I use a leave-in conditioner called "Sedal" that I buy from an international grocery store. It comes from Brazil and is made for curly hair, but I'm sure you can find one from a good brand that is similar. I think Pantene has a leave-in creme that is the same concept.

If you have curls, you should only wash your hair 2-3 times a week because washing it more than that can cause a lot of breakage and really strip it of the natural oils. In between washes, I dampen my hair a bit in the morning and use a curl defining mousse. I usually use Pantene or Aussie, both of which are great for me.

Good luck!

Curly hair's lovely, I'd use shampoo meant for curly hair, like a specific sunsilk one or something, and loads of conditioner. If you dry you hair with a hair dryer, use a diffuser to stop it from going frizzy! Plus your hair will be healthier than straightening it ever day!

Advice for curly hair?

When I leave my hair curly I use a leave in conditioner and a little hair mousse and let it dry naturally - do not brush hair after washing just run your fingers through and scrunch conditioner and mousse into it.

Advice for curly hair?

ive found that Bouncy Spray curl activator by ISO works really well to help your curls become more defined and keep their shape all day. hope this helps! :)

Advice for curly hair?

Oh definitely natural girl, i left my hair natural (straight plus hint of waves) ever since i got tired of those damn machines

1) Never use a brush- use wide toothed comb or fingers to seperate comb

2) My sister use Umberto Giani on her curly hair, use a serum on wet hair and let dry naturally or scrunch dry in cool settings

3) CONDITION EVERYTIME lol x

Advice for curly hair?

Never use a brush...and don't use too much gel because then it looks wet and greasy.

Advice for curly hair?

I have curly hair that annoys the hell out of me but I wouldn't change it for the world. After having straight hair for so long it may take you a while to get used having such a different style so please be patient.

Pantene Time Renewal will help get you back into good condition and I advise an intensive conditioner as well. As for products I think you may have to try a few different ranges to find the perfect one because your hair will be used to being straightened all the time. A mousse/gel/balm will help seperate the curls, serum will define them and shine spray is optional but sometimes essential if your hair is dry. Have fun with your new crowning glory and please don't give up if you get too annoyed, it'll be worth it in the end :)

Advice for curly hair?

i had a curly hair before then i straight it . yes, most of the time people saying the curly hair is suited. try not to comb your hair after washing it , don't use the hair dryer try to dry it naturally use shampoo only.i think curly hair is better than straight hair for many people. good luck.

Advice for curly hair?

just use shampoo/conditioner for curly hair

Advice for curly hair?

Leave your hair curly, bet it looks gorge. I have naturally curly hair, but started straightening it about 2 yrs ago. Really regret it now. My hair is in a terrible condition with all the straightening, also takes me ages to get ready for work in the morning, cos i have to straighten. I have tried to get my curls back but just doesn't look the same as it used to. I used to get compliments all the time about my curls. No body compliments me now. I used to use frizees and shockwaves mousse awesome stuff. try them.

Advice for curly hair?

*Read the book and visit the sites below about curly hair. I did and my once horrible curly hair is now well defined and healthy. Now I get compliments on my hair all the time! Straighten your hair- be happy for a day, learn to manage your curly hair- be happy for life! But if this is completely uninteresting to you, disregard.

*To style your hair using the curly-girl method you will need gel, a leave in, and conditioner at the minimum. Some less useful, but still nice stuff would be a blow dryer, a diffuser (reduces frizz in curly/wavy hair when used with dryer), and a micro fiber hair turban/old t-shirts (to dry wet hair while sleeping or in the morning).

*The main philosophy of the curly-girl method is to not use shampoo. This may sound unhygienic but it has actually made my hair less oily and dandruffy. Most shampoos contain some of the same chemicals found in laundry detergent (aka sulfates). They dry out curly hair. Also you shouldn't brush your curly hair dry because it damages the hair and makes it poof.

*Massaging of the scalp with conditioner to remove dirt is all that is needed. It will clean everything but super clingy silicones (avoid these- ingredients will end in -xane, -conol, or -cone). Then rinse and spread conditioner on the outside layer of hair and the hair at the nape of your neck. Gently comb tangles out with your fingers or a wide toothed comb and rinse with cold/cool water.

*Do not brush/comb your hair after this point because it will disturb the curl pattern (make sure you already have a part). It is also important to use gel on sopping wet hair and scrunch the hair with your fingers. Make sure gel is evenly distributed everywhere in your hair. If you use too much you can always scrunch out the crunchy texture later.

*Use paper towels or an old t-shirt to gently scrunch some of the water out (generic towels can make hair frizz). You can either let your hair air dry or wait ten minutes and then use a blowdryer with a diffuser. Dry until your hair is almost dry, and then air-dry the last bit. Do not touch the hair while it is air-drying or it will frizz!

*Use a cheap, silicone free conditioner to scrub your scalp such as Suave Naturals or Vo5. Use a moisturizing conditioner, such as Kenra Moisturizing Conditioner (salon) or Nature's Gate\Desert Essences conditioners (health food stores) for your hair. I recommend using a gel (LA Looks, Herbal Essences, La Bella) over a leave in (L閳ユ┉real Out of Bed Instant Texturizer). Experiment with whatever products you wish, but there are more conditioners, gels, etc. on the websites.

*You may be able to get away with some silicones (such as amodimethicone) if you clarify with a sulfate free shampoo. Try Devacurl no-poo (salon) or Cream of Nature (drug store). Feel free to find your own but always check the ingredients for sodium/ammonium lauryl/laureth sulfate.

*Your hair may seem worse at first, but it is just adjusting. This takes 2 to 4 weeks begin working. Before you decide to quit shampoo, do a final cleanse with shampoo and stop the use of any products with silicones in them. This is hard to do if you don't read the book, or at least visit the websites. Naturally curly hair can be beautiful! I hope you consider this- email me if you have any questions!
