Tips on managing curly hair?

I have curly hair, and it always gets frizzy. I use mousse in it, and that usually helps. Also, other than straightening it or wearing it down and curly, the only thing I end up doing with my hair is putting it up in a ponytail. Any tips on products and/or or styles to help my hair?

I prefer to use gel in my hair. I used mousse for a while, but I think the gel works better. Also, the key is to style it when it's wet. Then let it air dry when you're done styling it. Personally, once my hair dries, there's nothing I can do to change it.

As for styles, there are two that I use when I feel like I need a change from wearing it down and curly. After putting some gel/mousse in your hair (optional), put your hair in a ponytail towards the base of your neck. Then twist the ponytail and clip it to your head with a butterfly clip. If your hair has some length to it, the extra length will hang out of the top of the clip. Let this curl by itself, or scrunch it to help it along.

The second style is harder to explain, so my apologies if this doesn't make sense. You will need some length for this one. Put gel/mousse in your hair, and put it in a ponytail in the center of the back of your head. It should be a fairly tight ponytail. Bend over, and use your hands to fold your hair into what I can only describe as a "fountain." Put a second ponytail holder around the top of the fountain, so that your hair comes out of the first ponytail holder, and loops back under the second. So, with the second ponytail holder, part of your hair will look kind of like a donut, with the rest hanging out loosely. Now just scrunch the loose hair. If your hair is the right length, the loose hair will make a kind of sunburst-style thing around the donut/bun.

And as for the frizziness...that can really only be partially controlled. Mostly it's just the price one has to pay for having the luxury of curls.

I've heard that just using conditioner, this means no shampoo, helps. Also, I use Frizz-Ease and it works great.

I would suggest you go to your stylist and get some (Control Freak by Bed Head) Redken has a great shampoo and condtioner as well called Smooth Down. Also ask your stylist to strip your hair from any build up alot of times that causes your hair to feel dry and look frizzy.

Frizz-Ease Secret Weapon rocks, and Pantene's spray gel for curly hair (sprayed on damp hair and then "scrunched" a little, air dry) is a nice warm weather option.

I also got a product from a salon near me called Osis Twist Curl Activator, a creme for damp hair, that works wonders.

I personally have natural curly hair myself, what i do is i use pan-teen prov shampoo and conditioner and i use l.a. sport gel which always makes my hair look nice when i where it down! sometimes i spray it but what u could also do is try cutting it or u could get it permanently straightened if u want to try something new and different.
