Have you tried applying some mousse, scrunching your hair and drying it with your head upside down whilst continuously scrunching. That will at least make it wavy.

Air dry or blow dry your hair with a scrunching motion using the palms of your hand.

Squeezing it this way causes soft curls, looks great.

Use any settting lotion first then spray lighlty with a non-aerosol hairpray to hold.

I have naturally curly hair too, and to keep the spiral curls, I swear by Infusium's leave in conditioner. I just wash my hair with shampoo, rinse, and apply the leave in conditioner, when it dries, it gives my hair the springy curls, and leaves it looking really healthy. My hair grows faster too. if u got it chemically straightened doesn't that mean its permanent? if so you will have to wait til it grows out and then you can cut off the straightened ends... that would take a hell of a long time... but in the meantime you can just curl ur hair using curling tongs or rollers, but then itll be quite damaged ...just stick with the straight hair for now... or u can ask ur hairdresser if u can perm it? or reverse the straightening process if that is actually possible...

Try cutting it in layers, after washing try curling products. I use KMS curl up, its a CREAM, I mix it with some conditioner, flip my head upside down, or to the side, and put the mixture in, i scrunch up and let dry. Sometimes i use a hair dryer with a diffuser on it, and blow dry while scrunching at the same time. The scrunching is key. It works very well for me. Good luck.

chemically straighening your hair can really damage it i have the same type of hair and i wanted that but my mom had it done and her hair was ruined. you might have to grow your hair out and then chop off the part you got straighened.

The texture of our hair changes as we get older. As the pores become smaller the hair shaft becomes smaller in diameter and we lose alot of oils as well. Grey hair is lacking pigment and has a wiry text due to the cuticle laying completely flat one on top of the other. The pores may have changed shape due to hormonal changes, childbirth or just natural progression. A change in pore shape means a change in hair shaft shape.

I would say your best bet is to get a perm and make sure you get it from someone you trust and you've seen their work.

My mother gave me a "Toni" (anyone remember THOSE?) perm back in the early 80's and I had to start a new school with what could only be described as a scouring pad on my head.

Don't make that same mistake or you will be very unsatisfied.

Good luck.

To those who asked how to get their hair chemically straightened; read on. If your hair is caucasian type and a different texture from African and Caribbean types, there are two methods and the chemicals are different.

For "white" hair - it is straightened by using varying strengths of perming solution whilst constantly combing the hair to loosen the curls. Then the steps of rinsing and neutralising are applied. Just like in perming but instead of wrapping the hair around rods to create a curl, the hair is pulled straight and the solution breaks the molecular bonds and the neutraliser l"ocks" the straightened or curled hair into it's new shape.

For "black" hair - A relaxer is used and the chemicals are either lye based (very harsh) or and this is my years of not being in the field anymore, a weaker chemical which is applied to the hair.

The chemicals for the different types of hair are different due to the strength of the bonds which hold the hair in a curled shape.

The best advice is to go to a professional and ask what they think. There are many different options but you would want to go for the least harsh solution to straighten it.
