and i have long and thick hair.

i straichten it everyday and tie it back

what can i do???

Curly hair help (reasonable answers only)?

there really is no natural answer to this question, you have to experiment with what works for you...but what i do is i use the strongest anti-frizz hairspray they make everyday so i can leave it down and not cooped up in a hat...its tough but girls love my curly hair..so....it works....good luck

I swear to you that I have the curliest hair ever!

After showering, I use Got 2 Be Glued.

It's amazing and cheap. Keeps my curls nice for a couple days. I will say that unless i dry it with a towel after I put the stuff in, it doesn't get crunchy but otherwise it will. But It might be the price you have to pay for awesome curls.

It sounds like you need to put some product on your locks. I recommend using a nice conditioner that you comb through your hair while you're in the shower. Rinse it, then, apply a leave-in conditioner, such as Infusium, to your hair especially concentrating on the ends of your hair. Next, squeeze a small amount of a lightweight, flexible holding gel in the palm of your hand and then rub your hands and fingers together (basically, get it all over your hands) then, take your hands and fingers and apply the gel throughout your hair usin your fingers as a "comb." Continue finger-styling your hair until you're satisfied with the look, and, to really combat the frizz, let your hair air dry rather than blow drying it. (Some people use a diffuser, however, personally, I think they make the hair frizzier. So, I wouldn't use one.)

Wash with a straightening shampoo, eg. sunsilk straight and sleek. Dry with hair drier pointing down from top of ur head. Get really good hair straighteners... GHD's if you can afford some ! And when you straighten your hair so it with heat protection spray and put it in sections to be straightened so ur not trying to do so much at once. And finally put some hair serum in after that should help it stay straight ! :) Hope this helps. It's what I do and I have very frizzy hair without. Also a decent hair cut :)

i have the same problem. i have had my hair chemically straightened but it only helped for a couple of months. next time you get your hair cut, ask them to thin it with a razor. once i did that, it was easier to brush and would stay straighter longer when i used a flat iron. now it seems to stay straight until the next wash. also, if your worried about frizz and stuff, then find something in the hair dept. that can be used on your hair before using the flat iron. good luck!

shower at night before you go to bed.

comb a leave in conditioner through your hair about 10 minutes after you get out of the shower, then a straightening mousse (like herbal essences dangerously straight pin straight mousse).

wait a little longer and put in about a quarter sized amount of an anti-frizz serum, focusing on the ends, not the roots or your hair will look greasy!

then wait until your hair is halfway dried, and blowdry your hair, using a brush, aiming down (not underneath and up or upside down!!!) when you're done, flat iron it if it's not already straight from the blowdry. then, put your hair into a low ponytail and go to bed.

when you wake up in the morning, you may have a dent from the hair band, but just straighten over that part and you'll be fine. apply a little more anti frizz serum if needed, and some straightening hairspray (like herbal essences dangerously straight pin straight hairspray)

i hope this helped!

good luck! :)

Try Aveda spray gel and a light spray leave-in conditioner. It works for me and I've got kinky curly hair.

If you like your curls, I would forego using the straightening iron anymore. The heat just kills your hair. Plus, I don't know where you live, but if its the slightest bit humid, your hair will get puffy. At least, thats what mine does.

Good luck. Experiment with products till you find what works for you. Love your CURLS!!! :-)

I have the same problem and have had it all my life. What i do to keep it straight all day is...First off I never buy the straighteners that are Wet to Dry because it doesn't work as well as you think it should. But switch up your shampoo and use something that is smooth and silky! Then what i have is tres emme heat tamer spray. Its like 5 or 6 dollars at Wal mart and Walgreens. Spray that before you blow dry your hair because it helps with the fly aways and frizz. After your hair is completely dry then seperate and straighten like normal. It works for me and I don't have any trouble with my hair frizzing up or getting all curly again! The secret is the heat tamer by tres semme...it works wonders because after you blow dry your hair is already mostly straight and all you have to do is run your straightener through it to keep it that way. Good luck!

Use and anti frizz serum (such as john freda (extra strenght)) and apply that to damp hair. Use a straighning balm (they have lots of brands at any store like target and walmart) The tresseme brand is good. Its also VERY IMPORTANT to use a heat defense cream. Let it air dry over night (or blow dry if you dont have time) and straighten it in the morning. Use the dove brand flexable hold aerosal hairspray. Make sure you have a good flat iron. That may be the problem as well.

If you want the really good stuff (expensive though) The "sleek" by Matrix is amazing. You can get this at a salon or try walmart. They have a web site as well

Heres websites of the other products so you can know what they look like.

The john frida collection works just as well as the Matrix at half the price.

Moisture, moisture, moisture. Get a good deep conditioner. Or *lightly* apply some jojoba or coconut oil. That will help with the frizzies.

I too, being latin (Portuguese) have this problem as well. However, all of the new products that exist today have answered many a prayer from a person with curly hair. You must use a straighten up (products that state straight/frizz free/completely straight/etc.) shampoo and conditioner that is specifically for curly hair, straightening/anti-frizz/curl tamer. Also you can put leave in conditioner (make sure that it is a lightweight one (it can weigh your hair down), or if you do not want to use a leave in mousse is great also. Then finally, use a glossy serum that combats frizz and fly aways. I love Pantene products, Sebastian, Straight products (CVS) and a host of others (Ulta has a great selection). Another note, when you have curly hair it is imperative that you use good hair Ion tools! Good Luck!
