Why is thick curly hair so hard to take care of?

I have really thick course hair and I'm always managing it and I want to grow my hair out because it hasn't been long since I was nine and now I'm sixteen and it touches my shoulders a little but not quite there yet, but I want it to touch below my shoulders, but no longer and I keep thinking how hard it's going to be when it grows out where I want it. How do you manage thick curly hair when it's in the process of growing out? I remember when my parents would comb my hair in the morning and I'd scream at the top of my lungs and knowing when it grows out again I'll have to experience it again.LOL I have another question how can I become patient with my hair growing out, because my mom said my hair probably won't be at the length I want it until I'm a senior. What do you think about both of my questions?

ITS NOT !

Its not harder to take care of unless you are trying to make it more "white" looking.

if you just leave it natural its fine.

but if you are trying to make it straight, like white peoples...then the problem is ----you're attempting to make it do - unatural stuff.

its the same thing if - white people - attempt to make their natural hair - coarse.

See if you can buy a certain kind of scissors at the barber shop. These scissors only cuts so much hair, its called thinning. by useing these scissors twice a week you will manage your hair much better.

well its hard to take care of because there arent many product out there which help maintain curly hair..... dont use grease as this just dries out the hair further... im also in the transitioning period and i find that curls (www.curls.biz) works really well the best products they have are the curls milkshake and the asian tea hair conditioner they work really well...i also remember my mum doing my hair when i was younger and the screaming and all sorts...and one thing i remember most is that she would grease my hair and not moisturize it (the common mistake made by many). anyways depending on how fast ur hair grow with the proper maintenants it may only take two years but this also includes changing the way u comb or brush ur hair as well.. it seems like a lot of change to start off with but u do get used to it.....u may also want to try looking at blended-beauty.com however this site is more for when u have finished with the transition....if u dont try anything else at least try the milkshake u can really tell the difference as it bridges the gap between the two hair textures.....

You need to get Sebastian Potion #9. It's the best leave in conditioner, and it's heavy...so thick curly hair like yours won't be big and poofy :) also make sure to get regular trims, that will help eliminate breakage which makes growing your hair out seem to take forever...

Also, find a heavy shine serum and a good mousse (that's not volumizing) and use plenty of product...don't wash it every day, curly hair needs all the moisture it can get and washing it strips the natural oils away.

Hope this helps!
