! use 'leave in' conditioner and do not straighten. conditioner will add a lot of shine and will define your curls!

Japanese straightening could be an option if you have thick hair. It adds shine and straightens/smooths the cuticle.

Another option is to purchase a ceramic hair straightener.

If Japanese straightening isn't possible (it's expensive), professional hair colors these days add depth and shine to hair. Don't color your hair at home. Over the counter haircolor is very hard on hair (especially your hair type).

Bed Head's "After Party" is a great product to use in your hair type. (I have the same hair type). It adds shine and smooths hair (whether worn curly or straight).

Go to a top stylist for a consultation. That's what I did. I was told not to wash my hair every day. I now wash it every other day. I still wet it down on days I don't wash it. I was also taught how to blow dry my hair (pointing the hair dryer down and out in the direction of hair...with large round vented ceramic/metal brush).

Your haircut could be half of the problem! I used to have razoring done to thin my hair and learned from my consultation that razoring only causes more frizz in hair that is slightly curly and dry. So, no razor cuts! Also, don't have your hair layered too much!
